Enacting theories of change for food systems transformation under climate change

چکیده
In the past few years, we have seen growing calls for a transformation in global food systems response to multiple challenges, including climate change. Food are responsible third of greenhouse gas emissions from human activity and agricultural yields at risk due change impacts. Although many proposals been made, there fewer insights on what these imply knowledge innovation systems. We seek advance literature transforming under changing climate, by identifying concrete next steps scientists practitioners. do this adapting theory proposed Campbell et al. (2018). used adapted design 5th Global Science Conference Climate-Smart Agriculture, which brought together different stakeholders within Through conference sessions survey with 262 participants, validate elements framework, identify additional elements, offer further nuance. The findings point nine priority areas change: (1) Empowering farmer consumer organizations, women youth; (2) Digitally enabled climate-informed services; (3) Climate-resilient low-emission practices technologies; (4) Innovative finance leverage public private sector investments; (5) Reshaping supply chains, retail, marketing procurement; (6) Fostering enabling policies institutions; (7) Knowledge transfer; (8) Addressing fragmentation systems; (9) Ensuring security. identified three types scholarly innovation, transition sustainability transformations studies that may inform steps: relate stimulating novelty across areas, ensuring participation production, reconfiguring incumbent enable implementation

Climate Change and Food Systems
Food systems contribute 19%–29% of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, releasing 9,800–16,900 megatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e) in 2008. Agricultural production, including indirect emissions associated with land-cover change, contributes 80%–86% of total food system emissions, with significant regional variation. The impacts of global climate change on food syste...

Climate change affects ecological communities through its impact on the physiological performance of individuals. However, the population dynamic of species well inside their thermal niche is also determined by competitors, prey and predators, in addition to being influenced by temperature changes. We use a trait-based food-web model to examine how the interplay between the direct physiological...
متن کاملGlobal food security under climate change.
This article reviews the potential impacts of climate change on food security. It is found that of the four main elements of food security, i.e., availability, stability, utilization, and access, only the first is routinely addressed in simulation studies. To this end, published results indicate that the impacts of climate change are significant, however, with a wide projected range (between 5 ...
متن کاملClimate change and food security.
Dynamic interactions between and within the biogeophysical and human environments lead to the production, processing, distribution, preparation and consumption of food, resulting in food systems that underpin food security. Food systems encompass food availability (production, distribution and exchange), food access (affordability, allocation and preference) and food utilization (nutritional an...
